The operation will be carried out by Cannava, a state company from the province of Jujuy. 730 kilos of buds with high CBD content will be sent.
For the first time, Argentina will export cannabis flowers. It will be part of the production of Cannava, a state company from the province of Jujuy, who closed the international trade operation with firms from Germany, Portugal and Australia. This was confirmed by Gastón Morales, president of the public company, who said that he received confirmation from the aforementioned countries weeks ago.
In dialogue with the journalist specialized in the Argentine cannabis industry, Fernando Soriano, from Infobae, Morales said that the jujeña flowers will be sold in authorized pharmacies in each place and that they will not be processed to make medicinal oils. These are buds that have a high CBD content and do not exceed 0.3% THC.
In total, Jujuy will export about 200 kilos to Australia, 400 to Portugal and 130 to Germany. “Only based on these contracts, made between May and June of this year, we have received purchase orders for 730 kilos of flowers for three destinations. Based on these three contracts we will have a total annual turnover of 5 million euros,” Morales assured. But the Jujuy company remains optimistic that the trade agreements will remain in force for next year. “And there we estimate a sustained growth in demand of around 5% annually. Over the next fifteen or twenty years, the state company will be generating resources of 150 or 200 million euros. It can be triggered, but we prefer to stick to closed contracts to project,” said the president of Cannava.
Cannava’s work to place its flowers in Europe began in early 2023 when Morales and his team traveled to Switzerland and Germany to tell and show what they do at Finca El Pongo. “There we had a dozen interviews with ten companies, we were assisted by the embassy in Germany, they moved very well to be able to generate these meetings. We had two at the headquarters of the Argentine embassy. That marked the beginning of a series of commercial alliances with European companies,” explained the president of the Jujeña company.
